Oxidative Balance

Meaning

Oxidative Balance is the critical physiological equilibrium maintained between the constant production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), or free radicals, and the body’s innate capacity to neutralize and detoxify these reactive intermediates via its antioxidant defense systems. Maintaining this precise balance is absolutely essential, as a persistent shift toward excessive ROS production, scientifically termed oxidative stress, leads to cellular damage, accelerates biological aging, and contributes significantly to the pathogenesis of chronic diseases. Optimal hormonal function is highly dependent on a stable oxidative state.
