Ovulation Rates

Meaning

Ovulation rates quantify the frequency and regularity with which a mature oocyte (egg) is released from the ovarian follicle during the female reproductive cycle. This metric is a fundamental indicator of reproductive health and is tightly regulated by the pulsatile release of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus, which drives the surge of Luteinizing Hormone (LH). Irregular or absent ovulation, known as anovulation, is a common clinical manifestation of underlying endocrine disorders, such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Consistent ovulation rates are essential for fertility.
