Ovarian Stimulation

Meaning

A controlled medical procedure used in reproductive endocrinology to encourage the ovaries to produce multiple mature follicles and oocytes in a single cycle, rather than the typical single dominant follicle. This is achieved through the administration of exogenous gonadotropins, primarily Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) analogs. The clinical goal is to maximize the yield of viable eggs for assisted reproductive technologies like IVF.
