Ovarian Responsiveness

Meaning

The degree to which the ovarian follicles and stromal tissue react to the stimulatory signals provided by the pituitary gonadotropins, specifically Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). This metric reflects the functional health and reserve of the ovary, indicating its capacity to undergo follicular development and produce sex steroid hormones. Diminished responsiveness is a hallmark of ovarian aging and certain reproductive disorders.
