Ovarian Response

Meaning

Ovarian Response refers to the capacity of the ovaries to produce mature follicles and subsequently release an egg in response to hormonal stimulation, either endogenous pituitary hormones or exogenous fertility medications. This clinical metric is a critical indicator of ovarian reserve and reproductive potential, assessed by markers such as Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) levels and Antral Follicle Count (AFC). A diminished ovarian response suggests reduced follicular sensitivity or a decline in the overall number of viable oocytes.
