Ovarian Morphology

Meaning

Ovarian morphology refers to the physical structure, size, and appearance of the ovaries, typically assessed using transvaginal ultrasound in a clinical setting. This assessment provides critical diagnostic information regarding reproductive health, including the number and arrangement of ovarian follicles, the presence of cysts, and overall ovarian volume. Abnormal morphology, such as the presence of multiple small peripheral follicles, is a key diagnostic criterion for conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
