Ovarian Hormone Resilience

Meaning

Ovarian Hormone Resilience describes the functional capacity of the ovarian endocrine system to maintain stable, adequate, and appropriately cyclical production of estrogen, progesterone, and androgens despite exposure to internal and external stressors, such as aging, chronic stress, or metabolic challenge. This resilience is a key determinant of reproductive health, bone density, cardiovascular protection, and neurocognitive function throughout a woman’s lifespan. Diminished resilience is a hallmark of the perimenopausal transition.
