Outsourcing Facilities

Meaning

Outsourcing Facilities, as formally defined under the Drug Quality and Security Act (DQSA) in the United States, are specialized compounding pharmacies registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as 503B facilities. These entities are legally permitted to compound sterile drugs in bulk quantities without requiring patient-specific prescriptions, provided they adhere to stringent Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) standards. Their essential role is to provide large volumes of high-quality compounded medications, including complex hormonal preparations, to hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare providers.
