Oral Delivery

Meaning

Oral Delivery is the most common and patient-preferred route of drug and supplement administration, involving the ingestion of a substance by mouth with the intent of absorption via the gastrointestinal tract into the systemic circulation. While highly convenient and non-invasive, this method presents significant pharmacokinetic challenges, primarily due to the acidic environment of the stomach and the extensive first-pass metabolism that occurs in the liver. The ultimate therapeutic efficacy depends on the substance’s stability and its ability to traverse these biological barriers efficiently.
