Oral Bioavailability Agents

Meaning

Oral Bioavailability Agents are specific compounds, often naturally derived, that are co-administered with nutrients or therapeutic agents to enhance their absorption across the gastrointestinal mucosa and/or reduce their first-pass metabolism in the liver. These agents are clinically employed to increase the systemic concentration and therapeutic efficacy of orally ingested substances without increasing the total dose. Examples include piperine, certain phospholipids, and specific digestive enzyme blends.
