Omega Fatty Acids

Meaning

A class of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) characterized by a double bond located at the third, sixth, or ninth carbon atom from the methyl end of the molecule, categorized as Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9, respectively. These essential nutrients are critical structural components of cell membranes throughout the body, particularly in the brain and retina. Maintaining a proper ratio of these fatty acids is fundamental for reducing systemic inflammation and promoting cellular fluidity.
