Oligozoospermia

Meaning

Oligozoospermia refers to a condition characterized by a low concentration of sperm in the ejaculate, falling below the established reference thresholds for male fertility. This diagnostic criterion is typically defined by a sperm count less than 15 million spermatozoa per milliliter of semen, or a total sperm count below 39 million per ejaculate, as per World Health Organization guidelines. It represents a significant factor in male subfertility and infertility, indicating a diminished capacity for natural conception due to an insufficient number of viable sperm.
