OGTT

Meaning

OGTT is the widely recognized clinical abbreviation for the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test, a standardized diagnostic procedure used to assess an individual’s ability to metabolize a specific, high dose of glucose. This test is a critical tool in endocrinology for diagnosing impaired glucose tolerance, prediabetes, gestational diabetes, and overt type 2 diabetes mellitus. It provides a dynamic, time-dependent measure of both pancreatic insulin secretion and peripheral tissue insulin sensitivity.
