Obesity-Related Secondary Hypogonadism

Meaning

Obesity-Related Secondary Hypogonadism, often termed Male Obesity Secondary Hypogonadism (MOSH), is an acquired endocrine condition in obese men characterized by low serum testosterone levels combined with inappropriately low or normal levels of the pituitary gonadotropins, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This functional hypogonadism is a reversible state that develops as a direct consequence of excess adipose tissue and its associated metabolic derangements.
