Nutrient Transport Kinetics

Meaning

The scientific study and clinical optimization of the rates and mechanisms by which essential macro- and micronutrients are absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, distributed through the circulation, and ultimately moved across cell membranes to be utilized by target tissues. Kinetics refers to the speed and efficiency of these processes, which are critical determinants of cellular energy production and overall metabolic health. Poor kinetics can lead to cellular nutrient deficiencies despite adequate dietary intake.
