NREM Stage Three Dominance

Meaning

A clinical objective and measured sleep characteristic indicating a significantly high proportion or duration of Non-Rapid Eye Movement (NREM) Stage 3 sleep, also known as deep or slow-wave sleep (SWS), within the overall sleep architecture. This dominance is highly desirable because SWS is the phase most associated with physical restoration, cerebral clearance of metabolic waste, and the pulsatile release of growth hormone. It is a critical metric for assessing sleep quality and its restorative potential.
