NREM Sleep Stages

Meaning

NREM Sleep Stages, or Non-Rapid Eye Movement sleep, encompass the initial three stages (N1, N2, N3/Slow-Wave Sleep) characterized by progressively deeper states of unconsciousness and reduced metabolic activity. Stage N3, specifically, is critical as it is the period associated with the highest amplitude release of anabolic hormones, such as Growth Hormone (GH). Maintaining adequate time within these deep stages is indispensable for systemic repair and endocrine restoration. We monitor these stages closely when assessing wellness parameters.
