Non-Retaliation

Meaning

Non-Retaliation, in a physiological context, describes the system’s capacity to refrain from mounting an excessive or disproportionate defensive reaction to a perceived physical or psychological stimulus. This indicates a well-calibrated immune system and a regulated stress axis, preventing the initiation of chronic inflammatory signaling or prolonged HPA axis over-activation. It is a measure of adaptive physiological restraint.
