Non-HDL Cholesterol

Meaning

Non-HDL Cholesterol, often abbreviated as non-HDL-C, is a comprehensive metric in a lipid panel that quantifies all cholesterol carried by atherogenic lipoprotein particles in the blood. It is mathematically derived by subtracting the High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol value from the Total Cholesterol concentration. This value is a strong, independent predictor of cardiovascular disease risk.
