Non-Genetic Obesity

Meaning

Non-Genetic Obesity describes the accumulation of excess body fat that is primarily driven by environmental and lifestyle factors, rather than by a single or complex set of inherited genetic mutations. This form of obesity is overwhelmingly prevalent in the population and is largely attributable to chronic positive energy balance, resulting from a mismatch between caloric intake and energy expenditure. While genetics may confer susceptibility, the expression of Non-Genetic Obesity is modifiable through behavioral and hormonal interventions.
