Non-Anemic Iron Deficiency

Meaning

Non-anemic iron deficiency refers to a state where the body’s iron stores are depleted, as indicated by low ferritin levels, yet the hemoglobin concentration and red blood cell parameters remain within the normal physiological range. This condition represents a preclinical stage of iron deficiency, preceding the development of overt anemia where oxygen-carrying capacity is visibly compromised.
