NMR LipoProfile

Meaning

The NMR LipoProfile is an advanced diagnostic blood test that uses Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to provide a highly detailed quantitative analysis of lipoprotein particle number and size. Unlike a standard lipid panel that measures only mass concentrations (e.g., total cholesterol), the NMR LipoProfile assesses the concentration of atherogenic particles, specifically LDL particle number (LDL-P). This detailed particle count offers a superior, more accurate assessment of cardiovascular risk compared to traditional cholesterol metrics alone.
