NMR

Meaning

An abbreviation for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, a sophisticated analytical technique used to determine the molecular structure and precise concentration of chemical compounds, including hormones and various metabolites. In clinical diagnostics, NMR is widely employed for advanced lipoprotein profiling, providing detailed quantification of lipoprotein particle number and size, which is a superior predictor of cardiovascular risk than standard lipid panels. This non-destructive spectroscopic method is based on the magnetic properties of atomic nuclei.
