Neurotransmitter Modulation

Meaning

Neurotransmitter Modulation is the clinical or physiological process of selectively adjusting the synthesis, release, receptor binding, reuptake, or degradation of neurotransmitters within the central and peripheral nervous systems. Neurotransmitters are the chemical messengers that transmit signals across a synapse, fundamentally governing mood, cognition, sleep, and pain perception. The goal of modulation is to restore a balanced neurochemical environment to alleviate symptoms of psychological or neurological dysregulation.
