Neurological Potentiation

Meaning

Neurological Potentiation is a transient or sustained increase in the excitability of the central and peripheral nervous system, leading to a temporary enhancement of force production capability. This acute phenomenon, often referred to as Post-Activation Potentiation (PAP), can be harnessed clinically to improve subsequent high-intensity performance. It represents a temporary optimization of the neuromuscular system’s readiness to generate maximal efferent neural output. This state allows for a momentary expression of supra-maximal strength.
