Neuroendocrine Interdependence

Meaning

Neuroendocrine Interdependence describes the fundamental, reciprocal relationship between the nervous system and the endocrine system, where each system continuously regulates and influences the other to maintain systemic homeostasis. The brain directs the pulsatile release of pituitary hormones, while peripheral hormones modulate neurotransmitter synthesis and neuronal excitability. This interdependence is the basis for the body’s coordinated response to stress, reproduction, and metabolism.
