Neuroendocrine Dysrhythmia

Meaning

A clinical state defined by an abnormal, irregular, or desynchronized pattern of hormone secretion governed by the neuroendocrine system, often involving the hypothalamic-pituitary axes. This dysrhythmia typically affects the pulsatile or circadian release of key hormones, such as cortisol, growth hormone, or gonadotropins, disrupting the body’s normal biological rhythms. The resulting erratic signaling can lead to significant functional impairment and symptoms that are difficult to diagnose with single, static hormone measurements. It represents a temporal failure of endocrine control.
