Neuroendocrine Drift

Meaning

Neuroendocrine Drift describes the progressive, often subtle, decline and dysregulation in the finely tuned communication and feedback loops between the nervous system and the endocrine system that occurs with age and chronic stress. This drift manifests as blunted hormonal pulsatility, reduced receptor sensitivity, and a shift in baseline hormone levels, such as elevated cortisol or reduced growth hormone. It is a key physiological driver of aging and the increased vulnerability to metabolic and mood disorders.
