Neuroendocrine Axis

Meaning

The Neuroendocrine Axis represents the integrated, bidirectional communication system between the nervous system and the endocrine system, ensuring the coordinated physiological response to internal and external stimuli. This complex regulatory network is responsible for controlling vital functions such as metabolism, reproduction, stress adaptation, and growth. The Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis and the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis are two of the most critical components of this overarching system.
