Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Meaning

Neurodevelopmental disorders are a group of conditions characterized by impairments in the growth and development of the brain and central nervous system, leading to difficulties in areas like learning, communication, social interaction, and motor function. These disorders, which include Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), typically manifest early in life and often persist throughout the lifespan. Research increasingly highlights the role of prenatal and perinatal hormonal environments in influencing the risk and severity of these conditions.
