Neurocognitive Decline

Meaning

A measurable and progressive deterioration in cognitive functions, including memory, attention, processing speed, and executive function, often associated with structural or functional changes in the central nervous system. This clinical presentation can range from mild, age-associated forgetfulness to severe impairment seen in neurodegenerative diseases. Hormonal imbalances, inflammation, and vascular compromise are recognized contributors to this decline.
