Neuro-Plasticity

Meaning

Neuro-Plasticity, or neural plasticity, is the intrinsic capacity of the brain and nervous system to structurally and functionally reorganize itself by modifying existing synaptic connections and forming new neural circuits. This dynamic biological process is fundamental to all forms of learning, memory formation, skill acquisition, and the brain’s ability to recover and adapt following injury or environmental change. Hormonal signaling, particularly from steroid hormones and neurotrophic factors, acts as a significant modulator of this capacity.
