Neuro-Endocrine Transition

Meaning

Neuro-Endocrine Transition refers to a critical physiological phase in which the regulatory control over a major biological process shifts predominantly from the nervous system to the endocrine system, or vice versa, marking a change in the primary mode of systemic communication. A classic example in reproductive health is the shift from the neuro-centric pulsatile release of GnRH during early puberty to the subsequent establishment of the ovarian-pituitary-hypothalamic axis, where feedback loops of sex hormones take precedence. This transition often signifies a maturation or change in life stage, such as puberty or menopause.
