Neuro-Endocrine Science

Meaning

Neuro-Endocrine Science, or Neuroendocrinology, is the specialized branch of physiology and medicine that studies the intricate, reciprocal interactions between the nervous system and the endocrine system. This field focuses on how the brain, particularly the hypothalamus, controls the production and secretion of hormones from the pituitary and other peripheral glands, and conversely, how hormones feed back to influence brain function, behavior, and mood. It provides the core scientific understanding for the body’s master regulatory axes that govern homeostasis, metabolism, stress response, and reproduction.
