Neuro-Endocrine Disruption

Meaning

Neuro-Endocrine Disruption is a pathological process where exogenous substances interfere with the delicate, integrated signaling between the nervous and endocrine systems. This interference, often caused by environmental pollutants or endocrine-disrupting chemicals, alters the synthesis, release, transport, binding, or elimination of natural hormones, neuropeptides, or neurotransmitters. The clinical consequence is a perturbation of critical physiological functions, including reproduction, development, metabolism, and stress response.
