Neural Velocity Metrics

Meaning

Neural velocity metrics are quantifiable physiological measurements that assess the speed and efficiency of signal transmission along nerve fibers and across synapses within the central and peripheral nervous systems. These metrics, which can include nerve conduction velocity and specific reaction times, serve as a direct index of the functional integrity of the neural infrastructure. Declining neural velocity is a recognized biomarker of neurobiological aging and is associated with slower cognitive processing and diminished motor control. Optimizing these metrics is critical for maintaining peak cognitive and physical responsiveness.
