Neural Tissue Starvation

Meaning

Neural tissue starvation is a clinical term referring to the state of insufficient metabolic substrate delivery, particularly glucose and oxygen, to the neurons and glial cells of the central nervous system. This energetic deficit impairs normal neuronal function, leading to symptoms like cognitive fog, fatigue, and decreased executive function. Chronic or severe starvation can result in neuronal damage and contribute to neurodegenerative processes.
