Naringin

Meaning

Naringin is a prominent flavanone glycoside, a type of flavonoid, naturally occurring in high concentrations in grapefruit and other citrus fruits, which contributes to their characteristic bitter taste. This bioactive compound is extensively studied for its potential clinical applications, particularly for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and metabolic regulatory properties. Upon ingestion, Naringin is metabolized in the gut to its aglycone form, naringenin, which is the biologically active molecule.
