Myonuclear Donation

Meaning

Myonuclear donation refers to the physiological process where satellite cells, quiescent stem cells residing on the surface of muscle fibers, become activated, proliferate, and subsequently fuse with existing muscle fibers. This cellular fusion contributes their nuclei to the mature muscle cell, thereby increasing the overall number of nuclei within that specific fiber. This augmentation of nuclear content is crucial for supporting muscle fiber growth, repair, and adaptation in response to various stimuli.
