Myogenesis

Meaning

Myogenesis is the complex biological process of muscle tissue formation, involving the differentiation of precursor cells, known as myoblasts, into mature, multinucleated muscle fibers. This fundamental process is responsible for the development of skeletal muscle during embryogenesis and for the repair and hypertrophy of muscle tissue in adults in response to exercise or injury. Hormones, particularly androgens and growth factors, are powerful modulators of myogenesis, influencing muscle mass and overall metabolic health.
