MuRF1 Atrogin-1 Suppression

Meaning

MuRF1 Atrogin-1 Suppression is the molecular objective of inhibiting the activity or expression of two specific ubiquitin ligase enzymes, Muscle RING-finger protein-1 (MuRF1) and Atrogin-1 (also known as MAFbx). These enzymes are known as atrogenes because they are central mediators of muscle protein degradation and atrophy, particularly in catabolic states induced by disease or hormonal deficiency. Achieving their suppression is a therapeutic strategy for preserving lean muscle mass and combating sarcopenia.
