Motivational Salience Shift

Meaning

A fundamental change in the subjective priority and perceived importance (salience) of specific stimuli or goals, often observed following the correction of a significant hormonal imbalance, such as hypogonadism or thyroid dysfunction. This shift re-orients the individual’s intrinsic drive, making previously low-value, effortful goals (e.g., exercise, career advancement) suddenly appear highly valuable and genuinely attainable. It is a critical marker of successful neurofunctional restoration and renewed vitality.
