Molecular Erosion

Meaning

Molecular Erosion is a conceptual term in longevity medicine that describes the progressive accumulation of damage at the cellular and subcellular level over time, representing a fundamental mechanism of biological aging. This encompasses the degradation of key macromolecules, such as DNA damage, telomere shortening, protein cross-linking, and the accumulation of lipofuscin. The resulting erosion compromises cellular function, tissue integrity, and organ reserve, driving age-related decline.
