Mitochondrial Respiration Rate

Meaning

Mitochondrial Respiration Rate quantifies the speed at which the inner mitochondrial membrane drives oxidative phosphorylation to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the primary cellular energy currency. This measurement is a direct indicator of cellular bioenergetic capacity and overall metabolic health. Low rates often correlate with fatigue syndromes and impaired tissue function, especially in endocrine-sensitive organs. We use this metric to assess the functional status of the cell’s powerhouses.
