Mild Acromegaly

Meaning

Mild Acromegaly refers to a subtle, often clinically elusive form of the chronic endocrine disorder characterized by a sustained, but not overtly pronounced, excess of Growth Hormone (GH) and its primary mediator, Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1). Unlike florid acromegaly, this mild presentation features less dramatic physical changes, such as slight acral enlargement or mild joint pain, making it difficult to diagnose based on physical examination alone. Biochemical confirmation is critical, typically involving GH levels that are slightly elevated or inadequately suppressed following a glucose load.
