MicroRNA Modulation

Meaning

The therapeutic strategy of precisely altering the expression or activity of microRNAs (miRNAs), small non-coding RNA molecules that function as master regulators of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. MicroRNA modulation can involve introducing synthetic miRNA mimics to enhance gene suppression or using anti-miRNA oligonucleotides (AMOs) to block the function of endogenous miRNAs. This approach offers a high-precision method for influencing complex physiological processes, including hormonal signaling and cellular differentiation.
