Metformin Therapy

Meaning

The clinical application of the biguanide drug Metformin for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, pre-diabetes, and often for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) due to its insulin-sensitizing properties. This therapeutic approach aims to improve glucose metabolism and reduce insulin resistance, thereby mitigating the long-term vascular and metabolic complications associated with hyperinsulinemia. Metformin therapy is a cornerstone of modern metabolic and endocrine clinical practice.
