Metabolic Endotoxemia

Meaning

Metabolic Endotoxemia is a state characterized by a chronic, low-grade systemic inflammation resulting from the increased translocation of bacterial lipopolysaccharides, or endotoxins, from the gut lumen into the systemic circulation. This condition is often associated with high-fat or high-sugar diets and is a key driver in the development of insulin resistance, obesity, and other metabolic dysfunctions. It represents a critical link between gut health and systemic metabolic pathology.
