Metabolic-Endocrine Resilience

Meaning

The physiological capacity of the body’s metabolic and endocrine systems to maintain or rapidly restore homeostasis following a disruptive stressor, such as caloric restriction, intense exercise, illness, or chronic psychological stress. High resilience signifies robust hormonal feedback loops and adaptive metabolic flexibility, allowing for stable energy balance and sustained health despite environmental challenges. Conversely, low resilience indicates a fragile system prone to developing conditions like insulin resistance or HPA axis dysregulation.
