Metabolic Dysregulation

Meaning

Metabolic Dysregulation describes a state of physiological imbalance characterized by impaired energy processing, storage, and utilization at the cellular and systemic levels, leading to a cascade of adverse health outcomes. This is not a single disease but a core pathology involving hormonal resistance, such as insulin and leptin resistance, chronic inflammation, and aberrant lipid and glucose homeostasis. It is the underlying functional precursor to conditions like type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
